Novatel Wireless Builds International Momentum with Industry's First MiFi(TM) Intelligent Mobile Hotspot

LAS VEGAS, Jan 6, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show -- (CES) Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced its innovative, patented MiFi(TM) Intelligent Mobile Hotspot 2200, 2352 and 2372 are now available on 15 global operators in 16 countries since its commercial introduction in May 2009.

The MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot creates a personal cloud of high-speed Internet connectivity that can be easily shared between Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, cameras, gaming devices and multimedia players. Significant drivers in customer adoption are attributed to the device's portability and ease-of-use combined with the unprecedented ability to connect up to five users simultaneously, without tethering, to the Internet from anywhere there is a cellular connection, including moving vehicles.

Vodafone has launched the MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot in Germany, Spain, Romania, Portugal, the Netherlands, Qatar and New Zealand. Additionally, the MiFi platform has been launched by Vodafone affiliates MobileOne in Singapore, Polkomtel in Poland and Vodacom South Africa. In addition to Vodafone, Pannon in Hungary; Mobitel in Slovenia; Bell Mobility and MTS Allstream in Canada; Zain in Kuwait; Orange and Telefonica Moviles Espana in Spain; Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the United States; and Iusacell in Mexico have all launched the MiFi platform commercially. The MiFi platform is also available on T-Mobile and Vodafone through Carphone Warehouse in the United Kingdom, European distributor Mobilx, and North American MVNOs Best Buy and Radio Shack.
