Stephen Sek

    Stephen Sek is a veteran in wireless telecom industry, having been involved in carving the evolution of various generations of wireless technologies as steering committee member, board of director, technical advisor and contributor to various worldwide standards and regulatory bodies. Mr. Sek has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Inseego Corp. since November 2016. He previously held executive positions at Novatel Wireless, Inc., an Inseego company, serving as the Company’s CTO since 2015, Vice President of Global Product, Vice President of Corporate R&D, and Senior Technical Advisor to the CEO from 2013-2015. He also served as the Company’s General Manager and held other senior positions from 2000 through 2006. Mr. Sek began his career at Motorola where he served in various senior research, engineering and managerial positions for the PCS Advanced Technology Labs, System Technology and Wireless Data Division over a 10-year span from 1990 to 2000 having pioneered some of the industry-firsts wireless packet data modem and PC cards that helped proliferate today’s mobile broadband industry. He spearheaded several Motorola corporate wide initiatives including 5Nines for all wireless devices, and inaugurated the wireless data system technology lab. From 2006 through 2013 he served as CTO for Axesstel, Inc., and pioneered new product categories in WLL/Fixed mobile converged devices with Orange and Telefonica, and Home Phone Connect with Verizon Wireless and Sprint. Mr. Sek holds a Masters of Science from University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science from Boston University.

    Robert Pons

    Mr. Pons has over 30 years of senior level management experience with early stage ventures and Fortune 500 and turnaround companies. He has served as a director of HC2 since September 2011, President and Chief Executive Officer of HC2 from August 2013 to January 2014, Executive Chairman of HC2 from January 2014 to April 2014, and Executive Vice President of Business Development since April 2014. From 2011 to 2014 he was Chairman of Live Microsystems, formerly Livewire Mobile, Inc., a comprehensive one-stop digital content solution for mobile carriers. From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Pons was Senior Vice President of TMNG Global, a leading provider of professional services to the communications converging media and entertainment industries and the capital formation firms that support it. Mr. Pons has also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Uphonia, Inc. a wireless applications service provider, President of FreedomPay, Inc., a wireless device payment processing company and President of Lifesafety Solutions, Inc., an enterprise software company. Mr. Pons has held management positions with several telecommunications companies including MCI, Inc., Sprint, Inc. and Geotek, Inc. Mr. Pons currently serves on the board of directors of Concurrent Computer Corporation and DragonWave, and as Vice-Chairman of MRV Communications. Within the past five years, he has also served on the boards of directors of Proxim Wireless Corporation, Network-1 Security Solutions, Inc. and Arbinet Corporation. Mr. Pons received a B.A. degree from Rowan University.

    Philip Falcone

    Chairman of the Board

    Philip A. Falcone has served as a director of HC2 since January 2014, and as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of HC2 since May 2014. Mr. Falcone served as a director, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of HRG Group Inc. (“HRG”) from July 2009 to November 2014. From July 2009 to July 2011, Mr. Falcone also served as the President of HRG. Mr. Falcone is also the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Harbinger Capital Partners LLC (“Harbinger Capital”) and other Harbinger Capital affiliated funds. Mr. Falcone co-founded the funds affiliated with Harbinger Capital in 2001. Mr. Falcone has over two decades of experience in leveraged finance, distressed debt and special situations. Prior to joining the predecessor of Harbinger Capital, Mr. Falcone served as Head of High Yield trading for Barclays Capital. From 1998 to 2000, he managed the Barclays High Yield and Distressed trading operations. Mr. Falcone held a similar position with Gleacher Natwest, Inc., from 1997 to 1998. Mr. Falcone began his career in 1985, trading high yield and distressed securities at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Mr. Falcone currently serves on the board of directors of Novatel Wireless, Inc., a provider of intelligent wireless solutions for the worldwide mobile communications market. Mr. Falcone received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University.

    Michael Newman

      Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

      Michael Newman has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since September 2014. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Newman, served in senior executive level positions at Websense, Inc. a global leader of advanced IT security solutions, over an eleven-year span from 2002 to 2013. From 2011 to 2013, he served as Chief Financial Officer, and from 2002-2011 he served in a variety of capacities, including General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. At Websense, Mr. Newman was responsible for Accounting, Finance, Tax, Human Resources, Legal, IT, Facilities, and Sales Operations. Prior to his time with Websense, Mr. Newman handled securities and corporate development matters in the legal department for Gateway, Inc., a publicly-traded computer manufacturer. Mr. Newman holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University.

        General John D. Wakelin

        General John D. Wakelin (U.S. Army, Retired) has served as a director since May 2009. For the last 24 years he has worked in senior executive and business development roles at SAIC, a scientific, engineering, and technology applications company. In September 2013, a new company, Leidos, Inc., was crated and spun off from SAIC. General Wakelin transferred to Leidos, Inc., at that time. At SAIC and Leidos, Inc., General Wakelin has overseen numerous programs in large scale computing, telecommunications systems, and complex enterprise software systems for the public and private sector. He retired as Brigadier General for the Army where he served for 30 years in a number of roles, culminating in the Joint Staff as Deputy Director for Command Control and Communications for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents Reagan and Bush and as Deputy Commander for Research and Development for the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, N.J. General Wakelin holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco and he completed all graduate level course work in Social Psychology for the Army's Foreign Area Officer Program at San Diego State University. General Wakelin also attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and National War College. He is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and the Association of the United States Army.

        Sue Swenson

          Sue Swenson has served as a director since June 2012, Chairman of the Board since April 2014, and Chief Executive officer since October 2015. Ms. Swenson brings decades of leadership experience and operational expertise in the telecommunications industry and considerable experience serving on the boards of growing technology companies. She served as President and CEO of business software provider Sage North America from 2008-2011. Ms. Swenson also served as COO of digital content company, New Motion/Atrinsic, mobile virtual network operator, Amp’d Mobile, and T-Mobile USA. She was also President and COO of Leap Wireless, International (Cricket Communications) from 1999-2004 and President and CEO of Cellular One from 1994-1999. Ms. Swenson serves on the Board of Directors of Wells Fargo, Spirent Plc, Harmonic, and is Chair of FirstNet, the U.S. Department of Commerce First Responder Network Authority, appointed by U.S. Commerce Secretary, Rebecca Blank. Ms. Swenson is a graduate of San Diego State University.

          James Ledwith

            James Ledwith

            James Ledwith has served as a director since March 2008 and as independent lead director from April 2010 until April 2014. Mr. Ledwith served as a partner at Cohn Reznick, LLP, formerly J.H. Cohn, an accounting and consulting firm, from 1992 until his retirement in 2009 and has been a lecturer at San Diego State University from 2000 to 2007 and from 2011 to the present. Mr. Ledwith serves as a director of San Diego Trust Bank, a privately held community bank until its sale in June 2013. Mr. Ledwith is a certified public accountant and received his undergraduate degree from Babson College and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania.

            David A. Werner

              David A. Werner

              David A. Werner has served as a director since January 2004. Mr. Werner has been co-owner of Aerofit, Inc., an engineered component manufacturer, since 2004. Mr. Werner was previously a partner at Engineered Components, an acquisition and business development company serving the engineered components market, which he joined in 2002. Mr. Werner also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Day Runner, Inc. from 1999 to 2002. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Werner was Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Kaynar Technologies, Inc., a specialty component manufacturer. From 1990 to 1993, he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Microdot, Inc. From 1978 to 1990, Mr. Werner served in various accounting, financial, operating and executive positions with Lear Siegler. From 1974 to 1978, Mr. Werner worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (currently KPMG). Mr. Werner is a certified public accountant and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
