Novatel Wireless MiFi(R) Powered SA 2100 IoT LTE Gateway Certified for Verizon Wireless AWS/Band 4 LTE and Support for Private Network

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq:MIFI), a leading provider of solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that the award-winning line of MiFi® Powered SA 2100 LTE IoT gateways for telemetry and telematics has been certified by Verizon Wireless for AWS/Band 4 and support for Private Network. This is the third AWS/Band 4 solution from Novatel Wireless certified through Verizon Wireless since the network enabled AWS/Band 4 earlier this year.

According to a 2014 report from SNS Research, LTE-powered M2M connections are forecasted to grow at a CAGR of 90%, reaching nearly 210 Million between 2014 and 2020.

This update to the affordable line of SA 2100 gateways simplifies IoT integration for applications that require security and high-bandwidth. As the only M2M solution of its type with an internal battery, the SA 2100 gateway is ideal for applications such as in-vehicle hotspots, fleet telematics, remote video surveillance, digital signage, and remote access and control (RMAC). With the SA 2100, customers can now quickly scale secure M2M deployments in densely-populated areas with high mobile traffic congestion, without worrying about bandwidth availability and reliability.

"Our enterprise customers need simple and effective methods to reduce their total cost of ownership by deploying reliable, future-proof solutions for IoT," said Slim Souissi, President and Chief Operating Officer of Novatel Wireless. "Now, with the addition of AWS/Band 4 combined with Private Network Security in the SA 2100, our customers can confidently take advantage of new opportunities for existing applications and also enable new use cases that weren't previously possible."

The SA 2100 offers a unique combination of features and services that address the needs of enterprise customers looking for a simple, affordable solution for IoT and M2M applications:

  • Verizon Wireless Private Network: Extends enterprise network reach and security through a segregated private network by separating their data from public traffic and providing a secure direct connection back to their internal network.
  • Dual band LTE (Band 4/13) with 3G Backhaul: Delivers a reliable connection for applications that demand high-bandwidth, such as video-streaming and in-vehicle Internet hubs. The addition of Band 4 delivers faster peak speeds (up to 150Mbps) and twice the bandwidth.
  • Internal battery for power back up
  • Versatile Design: MiFi mobile hotspot technology combined in a compact, lightweight gateway enables integration of advanced technology into space constrained environments
  • Extended operating temperature range: (-30C to +70C)
  • Vibration tested for vehicle applications
  • GPS, Accelerometer, I/O and One-Wire™ support (Telematics model only)
  • Programmable platform

The SA2100 is distributed nationally through Premier Wireless Solutions and Synnex Corporation (NYSE:SNX) and available from select solution integration partners across the country.
